OTHER WRITING

Okay, so the thing about trying to become a professional writer is that you probably should not self-publish your work. It’s better to go through the ringer with it, to submit and be rejected, to submit again and be rejected, to feel all the tingly feelings when someone, at last, says, We’ll let you in. I’m not rejecting that process, and I very much am going through it with my some of my other projects, but sometimes people ask me if they can find my work anywhere, and I guess it makes me wonder if maybe it’s okay to publicly share a little. Stories that I’ve written and loved and workshopped and shared with my friends and maybe can share with you all too. The bottom two are some of those. Short stories I wrote for workshop at Iowa, mainly about relationships and coming-of-age and trying to figure out what you want to say. The top two are essays I’ve written and presented on Black culture. While I can’t share everything I’m working on, I’d love to share these things, so that you can see the kind of work I sometimes get into.
