BIO

Angela Tharpe is a writer and teacher living in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her BA in English: Professional Writing from Baylor University and her MFA in Creative Writing: Fiction from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where she was a Truman Capote Fellow. Pursuing her PhD in English at Emory, Angela is interested in representations of Black emotion in contemporary American culture, as well as how fictional and media representations affect our perceptions of ourselves and others. Her broader research interests include film, popular culture, and Black studies. When she’s not working on her novel or getting ready for school, you can find her overwatering her houseplants or going on a walk in one of Atlanta’s many gorgeous parks.
